• Welcome!

The ACS Fundamentals of Surgery CurriculumĀ® (ACS FSC) and ACS Cognitive Simulations: Cases Essential to Surgical Practice (CogSim) cases have been developed by the American College of Surgeons Division of Education to allow you to experience common, as well as critical but uncommon, events in a virtual environment.

      Working Through the Curriculum

ACS FSC consists of 108 case scenarios in 14 essential content areas. The first few scenarios, or Instruction Manual, will walk you through the functionality of ACS FSC, including essential information that factors into the process of test selection. We recommend you complete these scenarios prior to starting the modules.

ACS CogSim currently comprises 30 cases across 7 content areas, and you may complete the cases in whatever order you wish.

      Browser Compatibility

We recommend you use the latest versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge or later on Windows, macOS and mobile platforms.

For best performance on a desktop or laptop, we recommend the latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. For best performance on an iPad, we recommend Safari.

Make sure that you turn off any pop up blockers to properly load scenarios.

      Where to Go for Assistance

You have received your account information from the person who will serve as ACS FSC administrator for your program. If you have issues logging in or difficulty with the course material, please contact this individual or email fundamentalsofsurgery@facs.org.

Thank you for participating in this program.
